Have you been wanting to be a part of a warm, nurturing virtual self-care women's circle where you can find self-care and connection with other like-hearted women?
Our Guilt-Free Self-Care Women’s Circles are a place where you can be yourself, relax, exhale, rejuvenate and reconnect with yourself.
No pressure, no expectations… just self-care.
What Happens In Our Women’s Self-Care Circles?
Each circle creates a container in which you’re able to relax into the circle experience and find whatever your spirit needs.
We share in different ways in our circles. We are mostly a talking circle with focus on mindful, heartfelt sharing. This is a respectful space where everyone has the opportunity to speak her truth, share her story, ask questions and get support in safety.
Our circles also usually include time for reflection and restorative quiet. We sometimes create space for personal journaling, and have been known to enjoy meditations, guided visualizations, drumming, song, something completely different or nothing else – just sharing. It all depends on what unfolds and feels right in each individual group.
I gently facilitate each circle with light guidance to maintain the authentic, compassionate atmosphere for all.
“I have greatly benefited from attending women’s circles guided by Renée. She gently encourages and allows the circle to unfold naturally. Supportive, genuine, safe and healing would describe my experience. [She] also has a wonderful sense of humour, allowing playfulness to enter.”
What Do We Share About in our Circles?
This is an accepting, compassionate group. Some days you may struggle. Some days you’re joyfully celebrating. And everything in between. There’s room for it all in our circles. Whatever you bring to the circle in the spirit of authenticity, consideration and kindness is honoured and supported.
A topic or theme is sometimes set in advance but, most often, I simply allow each circle’s focus to emerge with the group’s sharing.
We’ve shared on a diversity of topics:
- self-care
- mindfulness
- spirituality
- depression and anxiety
- grief and grieving
- addiction recovery
- women’s issues
- sexuality
- compassion burnout
- and more
Do You Need To Bring Anything?
For most circles, whether in person or online, you may wish to bring your journal, a warm blanket, a cozy cushion, candles, your favourite mug or something else that is comforting to you. But it’s not required. Bring whatever moves you, or just bring yourself.
If there are any specific things you need to bring to any circle, it will be in the event’s description online and in the info we send out when you register.
Is There Anything You Should Not Bring?
For the comfort and safety of the group, all our in-person and virtual events are alcohol and drug free.
We ask that you do not bring food to the circles. It creates a more chatty ambience and takes away from the soulful, quiet nature of the circle. For online circles, please eat before or after you’ve logged in to the group. For in-person circles, please eat it outside the room or meeting space before or after the group meets.
Thank you in advance for your consideration and respect.
Where Do The Circles Happen?
The circles really can happen almost anywhere. We have met in wellness centres, community halls, bookstores, living rooms, rented meeting rooms, office lunchrooms, gift shops, back yards and patios, cafés, in the great outdoors, and on Zoom.
For our virtual women’s circles on Zoom, it is important that all participants contribute to our gentle, safe, inviting space together. This means that each of us is responsible for creating a distraction-free, quiet space for the duration of the circle. On registration, you’ll receive more information about how to do this.
How Long Do Women’s Self-Care Circles Last?
Each women’s circle lasts for approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, but can be more or less, depending on the group.
These are drop-in women’s circles, meaning you are welcome to attend one or several, as you choose. You are not obligated to commit to attendance on a regular basis.
Who May Attend?
Generally, most of the Women’s Self-Care Circles are geared toward adult women.
Occasionally, I create Circles with more specific groups in mind:
- teens
- mixed men and women
- caregivers
- people in addiction recovery
- grief and grieving
If you have a request for a specific type of group, please contact me.
Do You Have To Sign Up Or Register?
To preserve an intimate, safe environment, most circles are limited to a maximum of 8-10 participants. We do require you to register, even for our free circles, to maintain the limit on signups.
Upon registration, you’ll receive an email with instructions, circle guidelines and the Zoom link.
Is There a Cost?
No, there is never a cost to attend these women’s circles. I don’t want money to be a barrier to anyone wishing to join us.
There are expenses to run these groups wherever we meet, even on Zoom. If you’d like to contribute a few dollars as a participant, it helps cover expenses that keep these groups running. But this is not expected; it’s completely voluntary.
